New Technology to Detect Breast Cancer New 3D technology to help detect breast cancer has been incorporated into our diagnostic tools at our Women's Diagnostic Center in Silverdale. 3D mammography offers sharp breast images and give radiologists the ability to identify and characterize breast structures without the confusion of overlapping tissue. Shear-wave elastography breast ultrasound gives more information when evaluating breast lesions. It measures the firmness or resistance of the underlying tissue and can help differentiate complex cysts from solid lesions. This technology may reduce the number of patients undergoing unncessary biopsies. Click here to read an informative letter about 3D mammography from the Women's Diagnostic Center Medical Director, Dr. J. Wesley Solze. PACS As of June 2011, AMI PACS has been upgraded to IDS7, the same PACS system utilized by Harrison Medical Center. The updated system can be downloaded at: https://amiha1.amiradiology.com/IDS7. The usernames and passwords remain the same as those used in the previous system. Click here for an instructional guide about the new IDS7 PACS system. PACS (picture archiving and communication system) is a computerized method of acquiring, storing and distributing images. Physicians can access patient’s scans and reports online via a secure portal. All AMI locations have this capability and all types of medical imaging are available on PACS. This system allows for a much faster delivery of the imaging with clear, crisp images on the computer screen. Medical images are taken in our facility and the images and reports can be accessed, read or viewed by any authorized radiologist or physician at any time, anywhere. Please contact the AMI Marketing Department at (360) 337-6530 to set up a convenient time for staff training in your office. New Scheduling Technology Available With the implementation of a new Radiology Information System (RIS) at AMI, the opportunity for referring offices to schedule their patients online through the AMI scheduling system is now a reality. Installation and testing is complete and referring offices now have the option to have this system installed at their medical offices.
